In traditional African medicine Futa is used both with patients and those training to become a Sangoma.  It is a form of purification and meditation, similar to a sauna or native American sweat lodge, yet can be done in the comfort of your own home.

Using fragrant medicinal herbs one sits over a boiling pot of water infused with these herbs.  Covered by blankets one sweats profusely, expelling toxins and breathing in the oils released by the heat - creating an “aromatherapeutic” effect and entering an altered state, enhancing meditation.
